Found Cooley HR’s fishbowl account

🤦🏻♀️
Cooley has couched its stealth layoffs in terms of performance in the last few months before the massive layoffs. God knows how many were let go before this wave.

Given that K&E continues to hire, hadn’t no offered summers and before Covid regularly fired people with “4” and “5” ratings after performance reviews, I’d have to say that Cooley seems a lot worse of a place to be in this economy. If the recession continues another few years the Cooley ship may be going down.
Kirkland has frozen corporate (M&A/CapM) associate hiring in Texas for months
I think they have to come clean due to WARN
Maybe, and at a certain point you can only unleash so many laid off associates in one fell swoop and go undetected.
I agree. Stealth layoffs can taint the entire associate population at a firm making it harder for associates to lateral because other firms assume that they were fired for performance reasons
It’s crazy to me how many people in this bowl hate on k&e and then get angry at us when we try to defend our firm. Last I checked we’re the ones who would be impacted by decisions like these. I don’t get it.

K&E’s not as awful as everyone from the outside makes it out to be and it’s not as good as everyone who is on the inside (drinking the kool aid) thinks it is. K&E is incredibly good at the business of the law, but they take a very different approach than most other firms. What K&E does differently is all by design, but I think there are a lot of associates and NSPs who don’t really understand that design (or it’s pitfalls).
K&E also has some wonderful human beings. And it also has a bunch of assholes. It has some excellent lawyers and some hacks that are so wrapped up in their ego, they don’t see all the circles you are running around them. In short: In regard to the commentary in this paragraph, it’s a lot like a lot of other firms.
There’s nothing wrong with you being proud of your firm and your time at the firm. You should be. But, here’s my caution to you: Never drink your firm’s kool aid. At least not the whole cup. Every firm is trying to sell you something, but you need to critically evaluate whether what you are being sold is true and whether what you are being sold is actually good for you.
Eyes wide open, think for yourself and you’ll be fine - whether at K&E or somewhere else.

K&E laid off only a handful of people, didn't ATL say like fifteen?
Yeah it's early and new NSPs are effectively glorified senior associates, but that doesn't change my point.
