I can’t imagine when I was at entry level claiming I did the same work than people higher levels with more experience than me. I also can’t phantom blaming a company that pays you significant (for not having any experience), because you can’t afford the top 3 most expensive cities in the us
You think it’s cheap in the burbs in the Bay Area? Gotta get 1.5 hour commute out to see any meaningful decrease. May be cheaper than in SF but it’s still really expensive.
I know a lot of peeps are hating a bit on OP, but in truth cost of living in major cities is simply getting less and less affordable and that’s just the truth
I agree Amazon 1. That’s never happened in my tenure here but it has also been short. The turnover at Deloitte is leagues higher than that of any other consulting firm in SF for that reason
So if I’m getting the right you think As, Cs and SCs should all be paid the same amount and held at that level for like 5 or so years until you make M and at that point you can get a raise? 80 is more than reasonable for a starting salary, the whole point of being fresh out of school is that you have to work your way up to a cushy life, it doesn’t happen in year 1. Have you ever considered not working in the bay if your lifestyle needs a high income:COL ratio or just not taking the job with D? I’d hate to sound all libertarian and stuff but you have the choice of where you work just as they have a choose on setting comp. I can tell you Accenture and most other firms probably aren’t paying much different than that for fresh As.
Btw, my sister is an aerospace engineer and she is starting at 85 in Seattle and she brings a lot more value to the world than what we do. She maturely understands she’ll need to budget pretty tight for a couple years before her job affords her a more luxurious lifestyle, but it’ll all be worth it in the long run.
Doom and gloom
Oh how dramatic
Damn, Deloitte again?!?!
Move to Tennessee. Otherwise, keep whining.
Seriously? It’s called a roommate. I started with $75k in NYC 5 years ago and had a roommate in a tiny apartment, but felt like a king and never worried about finances. People make much less and live there
Lol try HK. USD23k with pretty much the same cost of living.
We pay no tax tho.
How much are you making
Move or get a roommate so you can afford more reasonable rent without complaining
You make money on the basis of accountability or revenue generation capability in an organisation. More you are accountable for or more you can generate revenue you will get paid higher. At analyst level it's neither
Also gotta keep in mind no one is making you live in the Bay Area + exits in big tech can be very lucrative
What is your honest opinion on what a Consultant does?
What is your honest take on your Work as an analyst? Maybe this way we can assess what the gap might be - we should clearly be in a better place to discuss and Talk about how you can make the Shift.
Don't live in the bay area
No more Bay Area. Get out babe. There are more affordable places to live.
Yeah, I feel for you. Don't listen to these haters about entitlement. Do this instead: Have your parents move to SF so that you can live with them. That way you pocket all the income from work and pay none of the living expenses.
