Depends on the budget and vibe! My wedding was black tie in a very formal ballroom, so anything other than a live band would’ve felt off for me.
DJs totally bring the party too!
Unless it’s a very informal wedding, I’d avoid a playlist if budget allows.
DJ definitely - you have someone making sure the music matches the vibe for that moment, and it’s way less expensive than a band

This is personal preference and who/what is available where you live. Doing live band with playlist for breaks. Factor in lighting etc when comparing prices.
Did a DJ and loved it.
