I think our official stance is " we aren't Deloitte"
Copycat!
“We aren’t laying off people due to the circumstance around COVID, our business was failing before”
Maybe at Accenture. I worked for Deloitte before and EY. Deloitte has a tendency to recruit people and going through lay-off frequently. Except this one will impact more people due to the fragile economy. I’ve been with EY for a long time and lay-off in consulting are not common. I k ow that’s not what you want to hear, but it’s my experience so far.
LMAO some salty comments here. EY also offered voluntary summer leave . 2 weeks pay for 2 months leave, 3 weeks pay for 3 months leave. This is a creative idea. If someone is already a low performer and they know it They might be pressured into taking this option to save their job. EY is hanging on to all the straws before lay offs and we can all see it. It just committed 10 million for black lives matter initiatives . I am proud to be a part of people first culture and I hope noone gets laid off even if it means no pay increase or even if I get a 10-20% temporary pay decrease and if you see EY bowl a lot of people share this mindset.
Did EY now follow the trend too?

“Trough in demand”
After mentioning Deloitte lay-offs news, Kelly Grier reinforced her message about EY strategy during this pandemic. She said there won’t be covid-19 lay-off. But we will have performance lay-offs as we do every July. We will see how many people get impacted by this.
Any firm can say this as long as they fire other low performers at the same time. Oh, we just raised the bar on performance requirements going forward in this new environment.
Yeah there's usually a group of squirrelly slimy people whose job is to solely figure out how to do this.
You seem very jaded. The partners at EY and yes I am one of them, will take a pay cut first to avoid layoffs as long as we can. If things continue, we will do layoffs, but we’re not there yet. And we’re not fake treating performance separations as layoffs

What did we miss? 😲
I think Deloitte's Dan is talking to EY's Dan and coordinating non covid related separation.
At least Deloitte was honest about it.

When does EY normally separate folks who had poor annual performance reviews?
Time will tell. So far, they are being honest. July is just around the corner
