A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles. I believe that one PM role is preferred in the industry and most modern software companies, especially FAANG companies, only have PMs. Just curious what others have experienced and if I'm correct in my assumption.

Considering moving from staff to freelance producer. Any advice for getting started in freelance? Are their any resources for determining an appropriate day rate (other than the post below)?

I am currently with VMWARE as a digital sales rep. I have another offer in hand with Confluent. The comp is lucrative as compared to the current one but I am sceptical if the move is worth. The next role is of Commercial account executive. How is Confluent as a company, is the move from VMware to there worth given the situation at VMWARE post broadcom acquisition.

Is the CPA designation worth it? For me it would take me 1 year of PREP courses and 2 years of PEP until i can write the CFE. And I am 27 years old right now. Also wondering if it would be crazy to pursue the CPA while learning how to code to be a developer as well?

Does VP or SVP really mean anything in Talent or Business Affairs? Does it actually bump salary up significantly or does it just mean a free parking space that no one is using since we’re WFH? Genuinely curious as I see some people with VP or SVP that have less experience than many with just a Sr title.

Looking for advice on career change. I’m a 45 year old single mom - I’ve been at my job for 18 years. I know I could be doing more. The job isn’t fulfilling and the workplace is rather toxic. The pay is pretty good - when I look at other open positions in my field / the pay is much less or the same. Honestly just unsure of what I “want” to do. Stay where I am and get a side hustle that may be fulfilling or change careers altogether. I’m a placement coordinator at a home care agency.

I am an FE with 7.1 yrs of exp looking for a change. So far I've seen the packages are boxed at 30lpa at my exp and Angular framework, I Have some exposure to AWS devOps as well. Can anyone guide if there is something missing in my profile or if I am not getting the right opportunity (excluding MANG from this discussion)

Which one should I go for?

1. Oracle - 18.3 LPA fixed + probable bonus (I may or may not get)
2. Amadeus - 18 fixed + 1.5 variable.

Amadeus is also giving joining bonus of 75k. Amadeus is paying more, may give better hikes too, but I am finding it hard to let go off Oracle's brand name on my resume even if it's means around 2L less over an year. I am planning to work for atleast 3 years in my next company.

What would you have done in my place? Should I go for Oracle or Amadeus?

First year associate thinking about making the just from medium sized reputable IP firm to In House. Started at said firm summer of 1L year as a law clerk/patent agent in May 2019, have worked through school and full time as associate since Sept 2021. Feeling very “stuck” in day to day work. Love the patent/IP space but drafting and pros w/minimal human interaction is getting very difficult. Thinking In House would be better, but not sure how much experience needed. Thoughts?

Has anyone found a way to automate salary certifications?

We get about 3-5 requests daily to fill out salary certifications for our employees in EMEA.

At the moment, we have to do all of them manually. We open a pdf, then open their employee file and plug away. It's tedious and time-consuming, but the banks I found won't accept an internal salary certification for some reason. They're adamant about using their form. Has anyone come across this?

I do not like HR work, should I be aligned to HC? I’ve mostly worked on process design on large transformations and do not feel like I need to be an HR guru in order to understand the business process
