It’ll also help to tell us what’s your priority like school, beach, city life, etc, and also size of house.
Your best bet is probably talking to an agent if you don’t know where to start
What should be good salary to buy 750k apartment

Rancho Penasquitos, Scripps Ranch, Mira Mesa - all great area with great school. Mira Mesa maybe a little cheaper, not by much, than the other two.
Torrey highlands, del sur are great too with newer housing but maybe a bit priced out for your range.
If you’re looking closer to downtown but still want good schools, La Mesa can offer that. Mostly easy commute on the 94 or 8 and it’s downtown is very nice with some good restaurants. Lots of parks.
Given you’ll likely be in a different area in five years, have you given thought to Talmadge or north of the 8 and east of the 15 near lake Murray or mt Woodson (Del Cerro or San Carlos) A bit worse traffic with the 125 and hotter during summer but very nice and friendly neighborhoods.
I echo KPMG 1 though as it all depends on what you value. And what you want with kids age 0-5 is a lot different than what you want 5+.
I bought in Talmadge in 2015 and a few of my buddies did too. It’s basically a large cul de sac with low traffic, great homes and centrally located.
I was a Coronado guy for years but glad I finally made the switch. Kensington/Talmadge are now my favorite areas in San Diego.
HMU if you need a realtor
Also have an amazing realtor. He was an academy buddy of mine and will treat you very honestly. I can’t speak highly enough about John Reeves.
Best area. Somewhere not in California
Dont forget to add another grand to your mortgage payment for prop taxes and insurance. 750k will get you a condo or 1300 sf home in san diego.
And HOA fees..$400- 500 monthly
