Lots of people talk about going from Tier 2 / Big 4 to MBB, but what’s the best way for year 1/2’s to do so? Would assume referrals from similarly leveled colleagues wouldn’t matter, online apps?

Partners, At IBM we have Band 8, 9, 10 (AP). If the three banded people were to apply for an opportunity in BIG 4, what levels will they typically be slotted?

Moving from a boutique (<30 employees, MBB competitor) to the strategy practice of a Big 4. Have only worked for boutiques in the past, so I’m expecting there to be some major differences in terms of working style.

What are the major differences and ‘watch outs’ you would point out to me? Could be anything from culture, to red tape, to compliance etc.

I’ve seen a lot of recruiters recently trying to hire for advisory consulting firms that claim they do the work that Big 4 can’t because of independence issues. Does anyone think these types of firms are sustainable or will big 4 find a way around the independence restrictions and take this work back?

What's the M1 salary at the big 4 firms? No MBA. I think I'm getting 125k this year at KPMG when I promote and wanted to know if that was in line with the others.

How do you successfully transfer B4 skills/experience to industry (how do you find the right fit?), and how do you continue to learn and build your skills so that you’re still marketable and could boomerang back if it doesn’t work out in a few years? I actually love it. I was a paralegal in BL during law school. Maybe I am use to the environment? What am I missing? Help me remove the rose colored glasses. The cases are interesting, pay is fantastic, offices are beautiful, and the research resources are a big reason why I never want to leave. Sure there are partners/senior associates that don’t respect you or your time. That happens everywhere and would mean you need to move firms or sections. What am I missing?
