Additional Posts in Accounting Exit Opportunities
Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

I don’t think any advisory is hiring now that is the problem
I boomeranged back to public accounting after under 2 years in industry. Industry isn’t for everyone
I only considered audit but funny enough I’m working in advisory now and it’s a great fit. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Literally laying off people as we speak
What level did you leave at and for what role?
I feel like it depends what your role in is treasury. I’ve heard capital markets/forex stuff is more interesting. I’d say about 50% of my time is spent on paying vendors which is pretty routine and not super exiting. Cash forecast is probably the most interesting part since I’m actively looking at cash position to see where our liquidity needs are and can make recommendations based on that so it’s more strategic which I like. Rest of the time is ad-hoc requests that come up and some month end tasks like calculating interest accruals and cash recons.
I like the project and client facing nature of when I was in public since I got to be on a lot of different clients but just not actually doing audit itself. Just felt kinda pointless sometimes and way to much documentation on things I didn’t care for in most cases.
