160 a month not more not less why more? They don’t pay me for overtime. People create a good culture! If you set your limits and do excellent work they won’t abuse your time! I’m a high performer always Gold standard. Is about quality not quantity

You must work in the federal practice. Only place you can get away with 40 hours a week all the time.

Goddamn just reading this thread is blowing my mind. I thought my lil 70 hour weeks were bad. Part of me has to wonder though how many hours everyone is saying were actually productive

I have a solid 10 hours of productivity max. I don’t even want to think about how many hours I sat there doing basically nothing just waiting for my manager to leave

Worst I’ve had personally: about 310 my Staff 1 year (Northeast, Assurance).
Worst I’ve seen: my friend who hit about 500 as a Staff 1 (Northeast, Assurance). Unsurprisingly, he left the firm pretty quickly ☹️

@crowe I think Crowe is a good firm to work for, since it pays the same or more as the rest of the midsize but is smaller than 4 midsize firms. So you'll work less than say a BDO person for same pay, which is pretty cool

Recently lateraled as a public defender in HCOL area to ID in LCOL area for $$$. I’ve been at the job a little over a month. My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

Have any of you taken "low bono" clients while working at a firm? I want to take on a low bono client or two but not sure who would get the money. This is a contract opportunity through a non profit so I'm assuming a 1099 will be issued. The per hour rate is significantly less than my billable rate. I would (obviously) like the money but my real objective is just getting experience/networking since I recently moved to a new state and don't have clients of my own.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

I'm a long time prosecutor getting into the ID game and billable hours. Are there any resources out there that can help me get more effective/efficient without spending months/years learning the hard way? Some days I'm at the office 10 hours, took virtually no breaks and yet only bill 7. 🤬

I am concerned with fulfilling billable hours requirement. I’m required to hit 2100 hours yearly and I’m at ~1,500 hours and I think I’ll hit 150-180hours this month. What will happen if I don’t hit my targeted amount by the end of my year.
