Did it 2 years ago - took a 20% basepay cut, 50% bonus reduction and left $100k in unvested stock to get out of the misery of toxic leadership at a huge publicly traded company to join a small family owned company.
Migraines went away, weight fell off, and my family liked me a whole lot more. The $$$s aren’t always worth.
Of course. But you have to consider if the new salary still supports your current lifestyle and financial goals. If not, are you willing to make lifestyle changes to accommodate it?
I know people who have straight up quit because of the work environment with no new job lined up at all. And they're doing great now career wise. As long as you have a plan, leaving toxic environments is always worth it.
If you can swing it, yes.
Yes.
Always.
Absolutely

Paying off student loans is also nice… ☹️
1000%
Depends on the amount. 10k a year or less? Sure you’re not going to notice much of a difference. 30k a year? You do you but I’d put up with the BS vs giving that (or more up). I got colleges to save up for 🫠
Yes. No question.
Make up the salary difference and more by freelancing on the DL after-hours. 👍
Having peace of mind is priceless

I did this and it became more stressful worrying about money.
Yes. 100%. I owned my own business for 16 years and I hated running the business. I was the boss and was miserable. So I went to another agency and closed my shop down. I'm so so so happy to be working with fun people, I feel supported, and I don't have to carry the business anymore. I took a 100k paycut. I hope to get back to where I was, but seriously my happiness was worth it. I wouldn't change a thing. I believe firmly that you'll make back what you are making now. It's all just steps in the journey.
And like what copywiter 2 said, if u can swing it.. Yes.
Yes!
