My friend got engaged 2 years ago and planned a wedding in Hawaii. I promised I'd be there no ifs ands or buts, BUT it got pushed back by a year. I've since gotten engaged and I'm planning my own wedding now and buying a new home with my fiancé, so now the timing of it is tricky. I've run the numbers and the trip to Hawaii will prob be about 6k with everything. I feel like I should save money for MY wedding and honeymoon, but I promised. What to do?!

Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. You promised. That ends it.

I mean if you’d gone the previous year you would’ve still spent the money, right?

like

you would have spent the money regardless. do you really want your friends not making the effort for you because they think the money spent on you isn’t worth it?

like

Go.

like

I’d go. You can excuse this trip to Hawaii as your honeymoon destination

like

Is the wedding before or after your wedding? Maybe you can turn her wedding into your honeymoon?

I'd use it as the honeymoon unless I really hate Hawaii haha. Our friends are using a Hawaii wedding as a good excuse for their much overdue vacation!

Hello all!
I'm 26, I studied economics but I don't know why I'm not much into investing/trading. Someone else like this?
I recognize this is not a very good approach for someone with money "knowledge" and I would like to change this mindset. My main weakness is that I easily get bored of following the market and that I do not see big opportunities. Any advice?
Where to start learning, general advice for LT and ST investments, things you learnt, books that changed your pov on the topic etc.

Thx!

So my fiancé and I are having a microwedding in Rocky Mountain National Park next year, and we’re working with an elopement planner.
She sent over a sample ceremony (intro, sweet poems + passages to be read, and example vows), and we read through it last night. I was reading it out loud while my fiancé made dinner, and it just hit me that this is really happening. Are you paying for bridesmaid hair and make-up? Was a little sticker shocked $200 per person before gratuity, just adds up quickly with that many people😬 Not requiring it but wanted to offer it if they want to be more glammed up, but now seeing online that’s it’s considered quite rude to not cover it for them? Maybe just cover one and they can do the other if they want? Don’t want to be rude if it’s expected but also don’t want to blow our budget… any perspective on the “norm” appreciated!
