I’ve worked at AT&T as a sales consultant for 6 years and 8 months where we prospect, uncover, and close on leads. I’ve used Salesforce for the past 4 years during my tenure. I’ve done B2B sales where I’ve received awards for it for 2 years consecutively. Loads of troubleshooting, uncovering needs through consultative styled selling, and tech app subscriptions.
I was wondering if I have the necessary skills to transition into a tech sales role. If so, what would be the best role/fit for me?Amazon Salesforce Google @

Insight Data Science was created to help PhDs transition to industry. The focus is on developing a personal project to showcase e2e data science skills (support is provided from staff and alumni mentors), prepping for interviews, and providing exposure to companies which are actively hiring.
The pandemic hit them hard. Sessions occur sporadically and I believe they are all remote now. Companies used to pay Insight to hire data scientists, but now I think they pass the cost on to the candidate by asking for a cut of your salary for the first year or two (I think ~10%, and only if you are hired through the program).
It’s definitely not what it used to be, but the alumni network is still strong and valuable before and after your first DS job. It helped me get a great first job, and the second was even better because I could leverage the Insight network + a couple years experience to find promising leads and secure internal recommendations. Don’t underestimate the value of knowing 30 other fellows who all start their careers at different companies at the same time… initially it is a nice support group, but 3-5 years down the line, after you have a better idea of what roles and companies you like, those connections can be the link to your dream job.
I’d say it’s worth at least joining the email list and being alerted about upcoming sessions and events. https://insightfellows.com/data-science
Thanks a lot for the detailed information SrDS. This is very helpful! I will pass this along.
