Just curious, if you’re 100% happy, supported, and growing, what made you interview for a new job at the competitor?
Comp. I always ask for a range when they reach out and the right number will get me every time.
Is the M at 162 base or TC? That’s a huge BASE jump. It’s taken me 3 years to go from 150 to 170 base all while at the SC level. (In commercial).
Deloitte promotion jumps are not that big. I just got sc > m promo with EEE rating and my base raise was 10%. Check out the comp survey data
Take the new offer. Don’t burn bridges. You can always come back. Seen many boomerangs in federal consulting. Maybe entertain a match to be retained by current employer if you can be sure they won’t be vindictive about it. Congrats and best of luck!

ACN1 - I was poached. Then proceeding with the interview was just to pulse the market for my job profile’s (niche) value.
I told the new employer on day 1 “I am not in the job market and am currently very happy in my current role” and they totally ignored that and pushed me through anyway 🤷🏻♂️
Very fair question. Lmk if you have thoughts

Thanks ACN1. For me it’s about managing risk and the weird feeling of walking away from something that has been so positive for me.
The downsides are limited tho. Just here for some additional perspective and considerations
I would give your current a chance to match
My advice - Don’t leave unless you’re getting 20% bump at new place
To be honest I’m not sure I’d make the jump yet depending how many years you’ve been SC. Also, be careful with expecting them to match because they might not. If you feel like you have a bright future in current role, especially with strong network and reputation and it doesn’t sound like you’re miserable…not sure I’d drop all that. I jumped that amount and more from SC to M. And going into 3rd year M I already jumped 25k. Of course we all want more money sooner than later but the other things you mentioned are key and hate for you to lose that. But…up to you can always try to come back maybe.
Youre welcome!! :) best of luck!
I did see couple of similar cases. It is difficult for mentors to make a case of a base increase from 132 to 162. Instead they can help you boomerang in a higher role at a better percent raise on your 162. I would say switch but share your willingness to return and keep in touch.

Thanks KPMG1. Great advice. Agree.

Do you feel like the title and extra responsibility worth extra 12 K ?
Pro
C1 it is significantly more than 12k.
Extra responsibility psh - not a concern. It is the quality of work, risk in happiness, starting over my network, quality of peers, etc. that I am concerned about. Plus I’m happy and growing in my current role, and am in a high visibility high impact role currently.
