Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

Besides, the company pays for our visas and green cards, which is an added expense. Goes to prove that they think having us work for them is WORTH the extra investment. I laugh every time I hear people ignorantly say that we're cheap labor, cos we aren't.
There are two kinds of H1b workers: The ones hired by Big4 and other tech companies - high skilled workers with masters/phds who are as legal as your ancestors were. And then you have the ones hired by third party consulting/outsourcing firms which have contracts with bigger companies and send over contractors to work for them on a temporary basis at a lower cost. These firms all have the same business model and are used to send American jobs offshore. A few years ago, these companies got about 25k of the total 80k visas. These are H1B guest workers who are brought over from low cost countries and can directly replace American workers. Companies like TCS, infosys, Igate etc abuse this system.
@A1 - I can bet that any of the Indian consultants on H1B in Big4 can kick your ass in doing what you do without a doubt!
Just so you know, immigrants who've gone to school here and have bachelors and masters degrees, aren't paid lower than Americans. We are paid the same, if not more. That's a BIG misconception.
I agree that Indian outsourcing firms abuse the system and take visas away from qualified students. I think that the number of visas these firms get should be limited.
Everyone needs to chill. If you are not an Indian outsourced resource, you'll be fine on H1B.
I don't know if trumps proposed rule will solve this problem, but I agree that the way H1Bs are granted can be vastly improved. It makes sense for the US to treat onshore applicants (I.e. grads of US schools) differently from offshore applicants, because the US has already invested in them, and it's a shame for these talents to leave only because they were unlucky in the H1B lottery. When any single firm floods the lottery system with thousands of applications for temporary workers, it's bad for everyone. There has got to be a better way, whether that's limiting the # of applications from a single firm, scrapping the lottery system, or creating separate application categories for onshore and offshore applicants.
I'm sorry but I support this. It's not fair to immigrants or American workers. Companies bring immigrants over, pay them less than Americans and expect them to break their backs for the company for that lower wage or face being sent back. Also it screws American workers because we can't compete with cheaper and more dedicated labor!
Without a source, I've got to put this in the alternative facts bucket for now.
Accenture 1: if you have any close "immigrant" work friends/people in the same line of work as yourself, who you can have personal conversations with, do ask them how much they make. Trust me when I say that they get comparable salaries, if not more. Ever heard of a 'high skilled' worker ? I understand that ignorance and closed mindedness are two different things, and in your case it's just plain ignorance, but it's the kind that would hurt people. Try to be a little more informed and do your research before you assume things.
Not a single mention of H1 renewals. Literally nothing.
It's true most companies just abuse the H1B process. 70% of H1B holders are Indians who make between $60K-$70K the limit for H1B visa holders. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015/11/06/us/outsourcing-companies-dominate-h1b-visas.html
Link? Is this the visa stamp in embassy, or what?
Ah shxt, I was waiting for this to happen
SAD!
As of when?
Can someone provide a credible source for this please?
Source please?
Source? I haven't seen any news like this.
Lol "more dedicated" labor. Work harder, A1.
