Anyone dealing with crazy burn out but feels weird taking PTO since so many people are at risk of being laid off? Not sure how I can really get over this without some serious time away - but don’t want to risk losing my job.

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. Luckily I'm still bringing money in as a software engineer, but I'm looking for advice on how to support a partner who has been laid off. Ultimately I think we will be ok, but I know he's hurting / stressed / and could use a supportive partner.

Anyone else feel as though their firm is not being honest about the firm’s economic stability and what may soon come (i.e. additional layoffs or paycuts)? Currently my firm is taking austerity measures that seem disproportionate to its messaging about the firm’s financial status.

Having tough time deciding between IB & Consulting. My thought process: I have a "better" background for IB (TAS/valuation) and with tech layoffs, this might push more potential would-be tech applications to pursue consulting (there by increased competition)? Additionally, you can do IB intern and full time consulting but not vice versa. I prefer consulting, but IB seems like the "safer" option? And if consulting does get hit hard, I would hopefully have a full time IB offer via internship.

For all the EY layoffs announced today, did the firm still give you the 401k match? Policy is to be employed as of 12/31 in order to receive and I hope they were kind enough to still match...
