Every time I go on LinkedIn lately it’s a full cringefest. People are taking this “look how vulnerable I can be” thing way too far. It’s embarrassing… posting selfie’s of them crying because they got laid off and begging for jobs… am I missing something?? Go APPLY TO JOBS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. I was laid off and immediately started job searching, I didn’t post a pity party pic or a long statement on LinkedIn… personally, I wouldn’t hire someone like that or wouldn’t want to… but that’s just me.

I joined EY GDS in Jan 2022 and still haven't got any billable project. In such cases, is there a chance that they don't give confirmation once the probation period is over? Is there a chance of layoff?

Industry vets - in your experience how recession proof is insurance? I was not yet in the job market last recession but I watched my mom get laid off and struggle to find employment during that time for the next 1.5 years. I was wanting to hit the job market towards the end of this year, but now I worry that if I do move companies, the recession could put me in position of last one hired first one fired. I’m in a difficult situation. A man who was fired for harassing women at my last agency is currently employed at an agency I’m interviewing at. This job would be a promotion for me and it’s a good company. But I’m really hesitant to work where this man is. The thought of being at parties or in meetings with him is unbearable. I am interviewing for a GCP S&O role, and had a cognitive ability (GCA) round with hiring manger, after which I was told I am moving to virtual onsite which will be 2 rounds... leadership / googleyness and RRK. I left Audit at a midsize firm to join KPMG erp implementation consulting about 6 months ago. So far they seem to only want to staff me on projects with a heavy focus on technical accounting and audit. Spoke to a lot of others who have left and seems like being pigeonholed or staffed on projects not related to the actual core work of the practice is the common reason. I've been on the fence about whether I should stay and hope to be staffed on better projects in the future or leave soon...

Went for a hair cut with a new person because my usual stylist no longer does hair. This was the first time with the new girl, but I've been going to the same place for years. It's been a while and I had tons of split ends & asked for a 4 inch trim to get it back to healthy. My hair is long, to my waist and usually I stand during cuts. She said no need.
When she was done, I should have known something was weird because I had to ask for the mirror to see the back. She cut 18 inches off.
