Absolutely not. That’s their salary, not yours. Use that information as a benchmark for your demands. Explain your market value (get some competing offers) and justify why you deserve x amount of compensation.

And if your boss says that your work quality isn’t equal?

Of course. Anything that can help your case. Salaries aren't confidential, just make sure the other person is aware in case they reach out.

Would that person be fine with you sharing?

Unless you’re in a small firm, having a single data point / one persons salary won’t be super compelling
Yes. If you're being underpaid/undervalued it's an important metric.
Not going to help you and makes you look petty
No sir/ma’am unless you have their permission
Not at all. What does their salary have to do with you?

Are you negotiating a raise or are you bring a discriminatory compensation practice to their attention? If it’s the former, then no. Negotiate your raise on your merits. You know your worth. If it’s the later, then absolutely bring as many other salaries to the table as you have to demonstrate your point.

Exactly. My best friend and I are at about-ish the same level in the same industry doing the same work and have worked for the same employer at various times. On paper, I’m the one who should make more money. In reality, she has and probably always will make more than me because she is an incredible negotiator.
I’d keep what I’m being given these days unless you have an offer from another company
I never tried doing that especially when that person you are mentioning to him or her is someone the employer or the interviewer doesn't know or care about. Just focus on your personal goal.
