You should calculate how much the scope change was and communicate to your client. Ideally, this additional work would have been mentioned to your client while it was going on and noted for the budgetary impact. Your client can decide to either give you more money (best case) or reallocate funds to cover it (worse case) OR if your client is a top client and puts up a stink, your agency “invests” that time gratis (aka write off ). The conversations will tell you what type of client you have (cheap or understanding) as well as your agency philosophy on situations like this. Good luck!
