PMP certification. Would this be beneficial to go for? Weighing my options. I have 25 years experience in logistics and supply chain

What's your motive for going for it?

More exposure to all aspects of the business. Do you recommend anything else?

Shouldn’t you be thinking about retirement?

What makes you assume this? A lot of people who have 25 years experience are needing to work for 10-15 more years to reach retirement. Getting a certification in PMP could be a great way to ward off any potential ageism that people are experiencing in the workforce. Anything to keep your knowledge fresh and relevant is a good move, I think!

I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

The Way to a Higher Salary? Leave.

If I had stayed in the role I was in originally and grown with it, I’d be making maybe $120k, best case. I also wouldn’t have broken 6-figures in under 4 years by waiting.

The biggest lie that companies tell you is you can grow in a firm, both professionally and financially. The only ones that grow are already the people a) getting the promotions, or b) on the sales side.

If neither applies to you, the fastest way to achieve salary growth is to leave.
