Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @
Those who tuned into KPMG town hall, thoughts?

OW is growing in Aus (not sure about FS) and I expect you would need to get sponsored. So it might be easier to obtain your visa through OW as it might be better for them than recruiting locally. However movemeon.com also offers a number of positions with sponsorships. Agree that Sydney would be the better choice for FS.
Good luck!
Oliver Wyman could be a good option, but reputation in Australia is worse than in other parts of the world. The team has doubled in the past years through the acquisition of a boutique, partner hires and, more recently, poaching most of the Public Sector team of Strategy& / Scyne
Thanks for the insight!
Had a call with one of the partners recently and they mentioned that we are at or are over capacity. Does that sound about right? Might be practice specific I guess
Types of clients I’ve worked with: banks, development agencies, stock exchanges, clearing houses, central security depositories.
Types of projects I’ve worked on: risk management, sustainability (climate and nature), organisational structure, network performance management, pricing strategy.
Background: 4 year bachelors with honours, two master’s degrees. Various subjects, don’t want to say too much to identify myself right here.
Why not transfer with OW?
It is something I’m considering, but also open to switching firms if it makes sense to do so.
Which region have you worked in? F&R is big for OW in Aus, you will fit in. Sydney has a bigger office.
I didn’t know OW had a F&R presence in IMEA. Well comfortable is a relative measure. Someone flatting with friends and saving on accommodation cost could live on 120k quite nicely. Remember marginal tax rates are quite high…so for an Associate possibly 150k…means marginal tax of about 37% and overall tax burden of 28-30%. So 150k means 100k take home. It is hard to move away from IMEA to Aussie unless you are moving for immigration reasons.
Hi again all, thanks for the help so far. I’ve run a little calc to determine what income I would require to maintain my current standard of living. Comes out to A$150K gross (not inclusive of Super).
What level pays this at MBB and the likes of OW?
Thanks!
