Pros and cons of working at a family office?

Assuming you mean family-owned:
Cons
No HR. Meaning no safeguards for when owner makes decisions on the spot (likely the wrong ones for the employees).

Little to no benefits/PTO.

No room to grow. Lack of space to avoid people that you don't work well with.

The pro is that you will work with top management frequently (more so than any bigger office) and will get a ton of experience from wearing many hats (multiple roles).

Con: employees related to partners will be promoted much, much faster than you. Saw it happen at a small office of a top 25 firm.

Just transfer to FAO and work on Family Office clients. Best of both worlds

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

I’ve gradually moved on from ex-bf from 1y ago, but still to this day have this greatest fear that I’d crumble if and when I hear he is getting engaged or married to someone.

I wanted a life with him but he couldn’t see it with me (midway of our relationship) or with anyone before me. I do wish him to find his happiness.

It’s just that feelings of unworthy, unloveable, not chosen by someone you love so dearly continue to haunt me after all these times. Anyone has tips to get through this?

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??
