Aromatherapy is a neat idea, but I would also be worried about those who are sensitive to it. We offer coloring pages to both kids and adults that come in! Something else to focus on if they are anxious about the visit.

I was just going to say this. Some scents really bother me
I don't hate the idea, as I love using essential oils in my personal life. However, we have a very strict no scent policy at our office which patients tend to really appreciate. Like the other commenters, I would be concerned about sensitivities. Not just for the patient that you're treating, but those scents can linger.
We do, but we try to keep it really light because some people have sensitivities. But we use a diffuser and a lot of the patients really like it.

So, about the music thing... can we customize it for each patient? Maybe play stuff like Disney radio in their rooms if they're into it? The kids would love that! Otherwise, keep it super chill, you know?

My dentist sometimes uses lavender diffusers in the waiting room and exam areas. But its such a small step from allergic reaction

Some scents can trigger headaches or allergic reactions. I wouldn't suggest.
