Bird in hand is always better than the one in bush. If recession gets worse, your promotion chances will be almost nil next year
You can't know for sure your salary promo increase, what if your firm must focus on profit next year and it turns out to be much lower than what you expect, like 20%? Leave, get the experience and come back.
Thank you for the response and what you are saying makes sense. However, I really like the people, culture etc. at Cap so I would really like to stay. So, how do you think they would view me if they tell me that they can’t guarantee an increase / promotion anytime soon but I still decide to stay?

Depends on your existing network and how long you’ve been there too. In general bird in hand for me
Leave and boomerang back if you hate it. The. You get a 35% + 20% if you come back
Capgemini Invent and one of the Nordic countries, if that makes a difference:)
Not sure what you mean by - doesn’t matter when the promotion goes through - as i I would earn more during a six-month period?
You only ever talk about leaving if you are ready to leave. Otherwise, and as much as people say it ain’t so, your dependability comes into question. You’re perceived as a flight risk and when it does come time for the next big role or the next promo, you’re likely to take a hit vs. had you not talked about leaving.
So, if it’s the money you’re after - make the jump. Know that the increase comes at a risk - just as staying does. When the downturn hits in earnest, will the other company be in a position to keep you on or could you lose your job? Will your current company promote you or push things out another year?
Only you can answer these and decide which way the scales tilt in your favor.
