Good they recognized she was problematic and needed to go. I left a job where someone not fit to be a HR director was acting the same way.
Thats very rare, usually they're promoted for protecting toxic employees.
That is very unusual however, this is why you need to really look into your company because even though there’s not obvious signs of red flags, there are subtle signs and you just have to trust your instincts. Don’t second doubt it. Your body knows before your mind does.
Not in education. Principals that a great to work with in a school setting are quite the opposite in HR, seems like for women teachers at least. Union involvement was and is highest when ppl dealt with HR 🤦🏻♀️ no one went in without the union unless you weren’t part of the union.
I think being an effective HR person takes skills that not everybody has. For whatever reason, maybe it’s those soft skills that makes a good HR?

Empathy connects dots so without, often interpretation and action is not properly aligned. This is why soft skills are seen as less reliable than technical mastery but you can't use technical mastery at its mid to high levels without it. Tens of thousands of personnel complaints to NLRB, EEOC, Ombudsman and you get to see how incompetent most managers are in compassionately mitigating risk not just containment through fear based tactics like a PIP or bullying workers out.
At my former employer, she would have been made a senior director for that.
No, not joking.
That's exactly what they did more than once.
Entire staff left in about 18 months & 2 lawsuits? Excellent leadership skills.
Putting through full terminations for staff who *internally* transfer?
Proactively protecting our interests.
One eventually retired with a great package, another retired but is still on the board and the last is still terrorizing and micromanaging.
