Good morning. I am currently a senior associate in BugLaw, and I have applied to several trial attorney jobs in Chicago offices of federal agencies since the start of the pandemic. According to usajobs.gov, my applications to the DOJ and CFTC were “referred,” and my application to the SEC was received and my GS scale verified. But I haven’t received any updates on these applications in over a month. Does anyone here have any insights on these or on federal hiring generally? Thanks!

Absolutely 1000%.
Thankfully (?), I’ve been job searching long enough that nothing surprises me anymore. Just went with it and turned the conversation into a normal vibe.
Absolutely.
The only thing more frustrating than being rejected after multiple interviews is receiving an email from the recruiter to “jump on the phone” only to find out that we’re being rejected on a call.
At my company, we call candidates no matter what the decision is. This way they are able to get direct feedback on why they weren't picked for the role. We found that when we email candidates, they come back adn ask why so it just saves the trouble.
Yeah I’d strongly push your company to reconsider this policy.
