Was at an event recently. Seems like advertising really only cares about diversity as it applies to white women. I think this industry wants to stay white.

Any WIT in Boston? I'm interviewing for a really exciting opportunity in downtown and would be relocating there after it's safe. Would love to hear about any groups or resources!

Bonus points for intersectionality and welcoming of LGBT individuals (I'm a gender non-conforming butch lesbian). Bonus bonus points for a group that isn't all white.

Also where should I be looking to live? I heard Boston has a lot of racism issues and is very segregated...

Hey fellow fishies! There have been some questions lately about men lurking in this bowl. I’ve reached out to Fishbowl and a rep reassured me that only users who identify as women are allowed access to this bowl. If any men have misrepresented their gender in order to gain access, please flag the user and/or reach out to a bowl leader or Fishbowl support asap! Definitely want to make sure this space remains safe and private so we can continue to share freely 🙏

As a leader in cyber, one of my aspirations is to increase the diversity of any organization that I am a part of.

For example…When I was in Big4, I referred several diverse candidates who are thriving & now, at McKinsey & Company, I set a personal goal to refer 1 diverse candidate, especially in (but not necessarily exclusive to) cyber/tech/IT, for every month of my tenure.

Hey, I graduated UChicago and took a finance analyst position. However, I am looking to switch into management consulting because of a couple factors I have realized matter more to me than I realized: 1. Team and Collaborative problem-solving, 2. Diversity of companies and industries I am exposed to because of entrepreneurial hopes in the future.

Would appreciate any likes I could dm or any comments with firms I should look into that could be a good fit and hire off-cycle or for January 2023!

I am an international development professional and consultant passionate about increasing access to quality public health globally. I have extensive experience in research, project management and consulting in the Southern Africa non-profit sector with expertise in SHRH, Gender Policy and Violence Against Women.

I had an interview and the recruiter (White F) could not stop talking about DEI and POC % hires. It’s great yes but I didn’t even mention or ask about it yet. Barely had time to talk about myself. I was slightly uncomfortable. She made me feel like a diversity hire.

Does WE matter more or test scores? Like for those who work in non mbb consulting vs other analyst roles where there’s much more time to study. Have friends who don’t really have much work and spent a lot of time studying to get good scores meanwhile I don’t have much time to study. Found out today my toxic manager bad mouthed me to an HR rep in a different division. This correlated with his bad management and abusive behavior. Luckily the new manager I’ll soon be working with dismissed it. Her words of wisdom “reflect on what you could have done differently, you can only control your actions”. How does that resonate for you? Have you had similar experiences?

My hands are shaking!! I just got off a call with my toxic manager who is clearly not happy I am being poached for another division. I tried to hold firm as he attempted to 20 question me, who was it, who wants me, what division, how did they find out about me? And of course the gaslighting of “why didn’t you come to me I could have helped or made introductions”. Clearly everything is about him. How have you handled such situations? What could I have done better with my abusive manager?

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??
