Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?
ATL Pride anyone?

Hi all,
Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.
Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.
Thanks!

Pros: Weekends are fun especially if you’re into the outdoors, office environment (if you’re in FiDi) is cool and motivating, people are friendly (caveat below), job market (should you quit) is probably the best after NYC.
Cons: your apt/condo will be a massive (emphasis on massive) downgrade for your usual price point, city is super dirty (turds/needles) - reason is the horrific (also emphasis on horrific) homeless problem, dating scene is very weak, bars are mediocre at best, petty crime is widespread (break ins/theft), people are self-righteous/belief system is very one-sided.
Conclusion: the quality of life given the cost of living is the worst in the country. Overall do not recommend.
^G1 is exhibit A of the self-righteous sample. Also just proved my COL point.
Yeah you’re probably broke if you’re working at Deloitte or EY but if you got a decent tech exit you can live decently and make more bank than back home. Moved here from Chicago, pay 1300 rent for a room in a shared 2br with a private entrance. Set up my own microwave/mini-fridge. Getting over 5k in cash savings every month for a rainy day.
For sure! 1br at the same complex are as low as 2400 but if I get my own entrance and don’t need a kitchen I don’t see why I’d get my own place. I think Bay Area can be expensive for nice places but also affordable if you can adapt.
I mean if you don’t care about money it’s fine.
I loved being on a project in SF but wouldn’t want to live there personally.
EY1 hit the nail on the head. As someone who’s lived in both cities as a consultant, NYC is FAR better imo. The only place where I think SF wins is the nature aspect.
Not that you’ll be there much, but the KPMG office is in a great spot right off of Montgomery BART as well.
DC native in SF, also have lived in Chicago. Overall I love it, minus the cost and homelessness
The key about SF is neighborhood matters a TON. SoMa, Marina, Castro, Noe, Panhandle, etc are all very very different.
Pros:
• tons of smart but low key people (minus some tech bros)
• weather, parks, and surrounding outdoor activities
• Tahoe
• Job market (almost makes up for the rent)
• Variety of neighborhoods (something for everyone)
Cons:
• homelessness / cleanliness
• cost
• not a nightlife city (though plenty of good live music venues)
Nah we’re full
I love it!
