You usually go through the formalities, but with smooth sailing.
I’d definitely reach out to them directly. No question.
Just be prepared for them to ask who you heard this from; as you don’t want to get anyone in trouble.
It depends on the type of job you’ll do. But vet likely you will still need to talk to other team members just to make it look as a regular interviewing process, and to introduce you to the rest to the team in advance.
Still treat it like a real interview. You're in a really good position and the job is yours to lose most likely. Of course something could always change, so approach add thoughtful as possible and you'll be good.
You probably won’t skip the interview process, but reaching out directly is always the thing to do. Get you into the interview process with a reco.

You’d still meet with other team ppl for a vibe check
They are also doing this with other candidates tho

You won’t skip interviews altogether. How many you do will likely depends on how senior the role is.
At the very least, they typically have to give the people between you the courtesy of a meeting with you (CDs or whoever). Even if they’re ready to make it happen.
