Seeking portfolio advice. 23 years old- 95k comp, 20k currently in market through the most basic Schwab index funds and Vanguard ETF’s, already max out 401k & IRA. My returns over the past year have been meager. I want to take on more risk and pick more concentrated investments. Whatever I go with, I want to hold them for the long run with no intention to sell. Any advice?

Damn 96k at 23. You are already ahead of the game. Good for you.

Agree, you’re doing very well

ARK index funds if you want to go the ETF route

Firstly, say no to ETFs and MFs. You are in your 20s. Invest in INDIVIDUAL stocks! I did the same mistake, pulled out everything from ETFs and went individual stocks. 60% returns from June 2020. Made $80000 on a $131000 portfolio.

Most everything has soared this year. Because the market crashed due to covid. You could have thrown a dart at a board of stocks and made out like a bandit if you got in at the right time.

Plenty of great stocks for the long haul, like amazon. Visa. Microsoft. Etc. You’re 23, don’t forget how much time is on your side.

Buy the market. For higher capital gains, buy a tech index - your horizon plus age suggests you can take that risk.

like

Do you see a lot of potential here as a long term hold? These have grown in value this year at an unprecedented rate it seems. Feels weird buying at an all time high. Just want to get your take on that

What funds are you currently invested in?

like

None of those are particularly conservative or anything. Long term, you’ll do great.

If it were me at 23 with that salary, I’d find ways to be more aggressive. Get QQQM or VGT to focus a more on tech.

I don’t know how I’m going to get through this week and then make it through 6 hours of testing. Please tell me the afternoon session is easier than the morning session, like some others have said 🙏🏽

Fishes honest opinion needed. Me and My so presently live in Arkansas, living in our first home with a child 4 year, both of us recently changed our jobs and have HHI ~ 420K, current mortgage 1600/month. We are looking to move to Dallas and thinking of buying a house ~996K with a 15% down. Questions -
1. Should we go for house of that budget? We can afford, but asking based on market.
2. Should we down 15% or just 5% ? Or go for 20% ?
*Getting a rate lock 4.25% 🤞🏼

Is it too late in our lives to jump into a mortgage?

So my fiancée and I are relatively late in terms of finally landing well paying jobs and being able to save money instead of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re both 36 and currently rent a 2 bedroom in NY and have a combined savings of $35,000 which she wants to use as a down payment on a condo. I kinda just wanna continue saving while renting. I also literally just started contributing to my 401K so I’m also late in the game for that too.
