Damn 96k at 23. You are already ahead of the game. Good for you.

Agree, you’re doing very well

ARK index funds if you want to go the ETF route

Firstly, say no to ETFs and MFs. You are in your 20s. Invest in INDIVIDUAL stocks! I did the same mistake, pulled out everything from ETFs and went individual stocks. 60% returns from June 2020. Made $80000 on a $131000 portfolio.

Most everything has soared this year. Because the market crashed due to covid. You could have thrown a dart at a board of stocks and made out like a bandit if you got in at the right time. Plenty of great stocks for the long haul, like amazon. Visa. Microsoft. Etc. You’re 23, don’t forget how much time is on your side.

Buy the market. For higher capital gains, buy a tech index - your horizon plus age suggests you can take that risk.

Do you see a lot of potential here as a long term hold? These have grown in value this year at an unprecedented rate it seems. Feels weird buying at an all time high. Just want to get your take on that

What funds are you currently invested in?

None of those are particularly conservative or anything. Long term, you’ll do great. If it were me at 23 with that salary, I’d find ways to be more aggressive. Get QQQM or VGT to focus a more on tech.

Why don't more partners (esp. tier 2/MBB) just retire at ~40-45? What keeps a person going at that point? I get working a job that's meaningful and and for a cause close to heart, but why work an objectively demanding job when you have multiple millions saved and a fairly high level of prestige in your field?

I’m 37 and I have a bit more than $400k between 401k and taxable investment accounts (VTSAX). Will I have enough to retire if I don’t save anything else but never touch this money until I’m around 60?

Is saving over rated? Starting to think my general strategy/approach to savings. I recently posed a question about why people don’t retire earlier after seeing maxing out your tax accounts (~30K with match) gives you ~70k in today’s dollars (not 70k in 2060 dollars). I was a bit hyper obsessed about saving that extra 2-3k a year and saying no to that extra beach trip or mountain weekend or even a round of golf. Now I think I should be saying yes, what do you guys think? Just curious for thisconv
