Should I be negotiating pay for contract roles? Often when a recruiter comes to me with a contract role they seem to have a set pay range however are always willing to agree to the max number of that range. Makes me wonder if there is a possibility to ask for more.

Two offers. Is it best to choose the company that is most stable because it’s larger but lacks a clear product offering and entering a new sector or the company that is more in growth phase but has clearer product offering?

bases are off by 20k, haven’t countered yet. OTE sounds comparable but have more faith in the clearer product offering.

Recruiter reached out regarding Job B at 130K with greater advancement potential but it starts out at 6 Months Contract to Hire per the agency contract. No bonus, benefits adequate by comparison. There is no guarantee to go full time.

Applied for an internal position Jan 12th. Was told I'm leading candidate 2 weeks ago today. Rec'd an email today from the hiring manager stating their business unit is looking at some restructuring and they are pausing any recruitment processes for at least two weeks. Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

I countered with a recruiter and they responded to my concerns and questions with “don’t worry about PTO days, I don’t even take them”, “you’re focused on the wrong things” (when speaking about health insurance costs), “I can’t see them going for that (my counter), let me see your experience again, 10 years hm”, “it’s really not an apples to apples comparison, this is a really good offer, don’t focus on that other stuff”. Don’t do this! I was leaning towards taking the job and now I may pass.
