Probably yes. If you can afford it, it gives you options in what appears to be a changing business. But really, it’s only worth it if you go to a top university with an impressive name
AI. I would go to B school only with a purpose of changing industries. It won’t help you in advertising. Marketing brand side - yes, would improve your chances of making it through the resume screener.
No. It’s a waste of 2 years in the creative industry. Awards matter more than a diploma.
No.
the world needs less MBAs not more
@ Executive Creative Director 1 & Vice President 1 hit the nail on the head. Nowadays, an MBA is really valuable ONLY if: a) your are looking to change industries/roles and thus want to be “reconsidered”, AND b) you get one from a quality school where it serves as a legitimate “credential” vs a ticket punch.
I would do it if you want to do more of a career pivot. Is it worth the money to stay in advertising? No.
Depends on what you’re a director of. Creative director? Absolutely not. Account director? Maybe, if you ever want to go client side. Definitely not worth the time or money though if you just want to stay at agencies for your career.
Nope. Unless you want to be in a different industry. Media and advertising don’t care about education it’s all who you know
The way this industry is changing, I would def consider an MBA.
What way do you feel it’s changing?
Agency work, no. Client-side opportunity, yes.
I’ve been thinking about it as well. I think for Account people it can’t hurt given where the industry is going.
i was an intern at a big 6 pr firm making $13 an hour alongside the mba graduates…experience matters more than degrees in our industry
Years ago, I thought about it. Never did get one. No regrets. But I still might like to have an MFA.
why not? it won’t hurt you and might give you a bit more credibility with clients.
