Single desis abroad, how often do you visit home? How do you deal with having no social support system? Do you miss home?

My partner of over 1 year dropped a comment that made me feel very uneasy. He said that he loves everything about me but wishes I was a bit more socially active. I love being on my own, reading, watching series, FaceTiming friends and family abroad. I moved to London 2 years ago and because of the pandemic it has been hard to establish solid relationships here. Am I being too much for feeling hurt and insecure suddenly about this or is my partner a bit of a dick for making that comment.

The biggest thing I keep running and running around my head- after 8 months, why did he drop me? When he texted ending it l….it wasn’t me, like we weren’t us, his words were from someone else, like I didn’t matter. It doesn’t matter how much it wasn’t about me, how he chose to end it, and that’s what crushed me. Who I thought I knew was wrong. I want to know how close he was to loving me.

Partners with kids and a working spouse, how do you manage? Is it realistic for both people in the relationship to work full time long term? How do you keep marriage going and career progressing?

I have a friend who told me he sought treatment for alcohol abuse 6 mo ago. We talk a lot and I try not to judge or ask too many questions about his progress, just wanting to be a supportive friend who doesn’t pressure him. What would you do if you didn’t need money? I have a fair amount coming one day and don’t actually need to work to live a good life (middle / upper-middle class). I work because of this vague notion of “ambition” and because everyone I grew up around is highly competitive and hard driving. I just feel unhappy so often and am wondering what this is all leading to. Scared I’m wasting my life being unhappy / in turmoil cause it’s what my culture wants me to do.

Today is my 23rd birthday and I had very few people say happy birthday today. I was still in daily contact with my ex (I know a mistake) and he snapped me but did not send me happy birthday (we were together 3yrs ). So I finally blocked him on everything for the first time. (I should’ve done it a long time ago for other reasons) With the pandemic and everything else going on I’m feeling hopeless and alone. 😓 is there anything to be happy about right now?

My last therapist keeps coming up in my mind. I left her when I moved to a new area before COVID dug in and frankly it felt like leaving a girlfriend. She also disclosed in the final session that she was a member of AA and knew several of the people I occasionally discussed from the rooms. Her knowledge of the program certainly built trust with me early on, but it has been two years. I discussed it with my current therapist but she’s still in there. Any advice?

I am currently working for Deloitte USA. I got a transfer offer to Deloitte Canada office. I have 2.5 years work experience and a bachelors degree. When i was calculating my CSR score for express entry it came to be around 418, assuming I’ll score the highest band in IELTS. Does anyone know if Deloitte Canada does LMIA for transfer hires like me? I am not sure if having a job offer helps unless the company files for LMIA.
