I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?

I like it. I find we collaborate much more effectively and efficiently in person
I am a huge fan of bi-weekly co-location. Usually a much better balance.

This seems more reasonable to me. If every flight was on time, if they were all short direct flights...... between travel time, hotel check ins, it's easy to lose 8-10 hours of productive time a week traveling....can you tell my flight is already showing a 90 min delay...... yeah, yeah work in the airport and on the plane....can I put my second screen on your tray🤣
We don't do it in many practices/teams and look at us. You learn better when you work alongside someone. Jumping on a call is too formal a barrier for many.

I would agree that if you needed that regularly, co-locating is preferable
You just said you guys don't co-locate and coaching people when they have to schedule jumping in a call is hard. My comment was really about other options. Have done that when every co-located except one who could not make it.
I enjoy co-locating when it's usuful. Just think sometimes it's habit not utility that drives it
