Started a new AM job in Jan because I was being underpaid in my previous AM role. With almost 2 months into my new role, I feel like I’ve taken a step backwards responsibility wise and the work has been very slow. I’m having trouble even coming close to filling my days for logging time. How would you approach applying to new jobs with such a short time at my current employer?

Why leave? I feel like account management is overburdened with tactical delivery work, without enough time to step back and be strategic. Use that extra time on ideation and development of innovations, process improvements, and strategic account growth opportunities. This is an OPPORTUNITY!

10000% agree with the SAM 1 comment! Also i feel good knowing being an AM you have time. I am working my butts off exactly for tactical deliveries and being underpaid

Is your salary and take home pay suffering because of this? If not, I say count your blessings! You can utilize this time to further educate yourself, freelance, bond with family, get some much needed rest, etc. This sounds like a great "problem" to have. It could be the other way around.

I’ve definitely been looking into ways to up my skills and knowledge base in this time. My main worry is that I’m being asked to log 8 hours each day and a lot of that is going to company time which hurts my KPIs. I don’t want it to reflect badly on me when it’s not under my control. I appreciate the additional perspective from you all!

I know someone who had a similar situation to the extreme and ended up leaving our agency after a year since they felt so underutilized. 100% stick up for yourself if you feel that you’re not being given opportunities for growth/stretching, but also align with those above on count your blessings. I dream of the days that I had time for inspiration and big thinking. Nowadays it’s just dreaming of a day where I have the time or energy to be excited about this industry again. It’s a blessing in disguise but don’t be fooled, if stuck with little to no work for too long, you’ll end up lost down the road.

Hi all, looking for advice on… well everything career related 😔 it’s the “great resignation” and people are moving on to better things all around me. I’ve been actively searching and interviewing for at least 6 months, and no offers after final round. I’m struggling to stay motivated to search and fake enthusiasm in interviews, and I’m still increasingly miserable in my new job. I think I need a career coach - any solid recos? Or is it even a career coach I need to help me get on track?

When BigLaw attorneys interview students, how soon afterward do they give feedback? What kind of feedback do you give as an interviewer at your firm (e.g. qualitative, quantitative, thumbs up, thumbs down, veto)? Does everyone get in a room or do you just submit the forms to one hiring partner, and/or to a black box? If you don't click with the student, what would make you still give them a thumbs up? Sorry if my questions are a little neurotic... !
