Still trying to get over the hump on my first investment. I’ve finally found a small house near an area that is going to undergo a massive redevelopment in the next few years, which will include alot of apartments/housing. Part of me thinks this is bad because of competition for rents, but the other part thinks the value will only go up once the area is redeveloped. Any ideas on which side I should consider more?

In process of buying a house, both my surveyor and specialist damp contractor found damp under kitchen tiles (In the grout) & in skirting boards and up one wall. Sellers had work done initially in 2014 on the wall only(with garuntee) & their company has visited and assured there is no damp… what is next best course of action, get another damp specialist to examine independently of other reports? I don’t trust them….. (U.K. Victorian terrace, damp is in the kitchen extension built circa. 15 y/o)

Looked at a house (new build) and MIL said the vinyl windows imply the whole house is probably made with cheap, shoddy materials. She thinks everything has to be wood Marvin windows or bust. Is she right? From my research vinyl has its pros too... as long as we aren’t paying like they are wood marvins. Any reactions?
