Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

You are not hired to make great work. You are to make what they tell you to make great.
Very true!
It's definitely not ideal, but sometimes things just don't work out. I try to stay out of it if it's not really any of my business. But also, someone being nice doesn't necessarily mean they are good at their job.
Yes that’s true- and I suppose I wasn’t on set that much to see first hand, but I did hear that she was a great standby art director, just didn’t click with the director!
Creative differences are the vaguest term on the planet. Always sad to see somebody I got along with leave, but sometimes, if it was just going to be a bigger issue down the road, better to part ways now.
Yes it’s a bit scary when you think about it!
Yikes that doesn't sound good. It does happen so I probably wouldn't think twice about it. She may not have been a good fit for the role overall.
Yes that’s true, it’s hard to know the situation!
