Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

Why don't you move to industry and focus on your mental health first before doing something this drastic
Pay is trash in that role
I would suggest finding another career path instead. If you didn’t like getting more pay in PA, you won’t like getting paid even less in accounting. Pursue a career that doesn’t feel like work or find a great hobby.
Sounds brutal
I think you will regret that as money gets tighter and tighter. Can you find an easier industry role or go into govt accounting instead ? They make those sound pretty chill and you don’t have to be chasing anything, the promos take years anyway
That’s absolutely true and great, but how much will that really pay? Like $15/hr? I just worry that you’ll regret it later. But I guess you could always come back to accounting if you need a backup plan later
Take a break- do not do this yet!
Just move to industry. Many jobs in big companies still pay pretty well and are not nearly as demanding as what you face in public. I hopped out 6 years ago. Still making substantially more than the peers I started in public with, and I work about 4 Saturdays a year (one at each quarter) as needed. No overtime at all on interim months.
I’m not sure what they’re doing now, but when I left at the beginning of 2017, we were already pretty much remote. We only were required to be at the office when we had something going on that was better achieved being in the office.
But to be clear, what I commented about re: overtime and better pay isn’t at Crowe. I’m not in public at all anymore.
OP, nobody here is going to recommend that you transition from a Big4 role to becoming a hotel night auditor. It would be a disservice to the work and education that you've already undertaken and the fact that you seem unmoved about the financial implications gives me a sense that you are likely burned out. I would seriously consider taking a leave of absence to collect your thoughts and make a rational choice that won't take away from the progress you've already made.
