One has to assume that we are NOT trying to turn Texas into Californian with failed progressive policies?

Just moved to San Diego and love it. I’d rather make the extra money and pay more to live here than go to Austin.
You should Airbnb in the winter and test it out before you move. I moved from NYC and definitely miss what big cities have to offer from time to time. However on the plus side - People are much more open and friendly compared to cities. I live in a brand new house and don’t have to worry about living paycheck to paycheck anymore which is even better.

As a current Texan (not Austin), Austin is overrated.
If you are a south park fan It’s basically SoDaSoPa.
Everything is new and fake, no soul.
I’m from Southern CA (not San Diego) and I think SD is the only place worth living in CA
I’m actually planning on moving to San Diego but not from Austin - buddy recently moved there and said he really loves it - friendly people, good dating scene, outdoor activities, warm weather all year.
Any thoughts on places to move in SD for a single 28M - Like north county but is the crowd too old ?

Just moved to SD from Chicago and loving it. We’re near Encinitas and really enjoy it. Single you might like PB or North park more
Austin is great! I moved from socal 6 years ago and have been really happy with it. There’s a lot to do and people are pretty welcoming. Welcome!

What made you want to move, OP? I’m moving to NorCal soon
Loved my time down in Austin. Traffic is something to consider. The infrastructure hasn’t caught up to the population growth.
It used to take me an hour to get from Mopac to 5th/Bowie during rush hour - I stand by my claim that traffic is something to consider haha
