This is a little random but I’ve gotten some peace from this community and I wonder if others share the same struggle. Does anyone else take care of mentally ill parents? I have one at home and some days are harder than others. I struggle to maintain confidence when all I’m hearing is terrible things about myself from someone who isn’t in their right mind. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an adult woman who is proud of my accomplishments, but some days are just hard to shake. Any advice?

For those who already have a baby - I (36f) just had a baby 6 weeks ago, and my wife (33F) is now back at work (WFH) and I’m still on leave. Since I have the baby all day and get up with her all night, my wife basically “takes over” baby duty when she stops working. The problem is that within an HOUR she has lost all patience with the baby. She gets frustrated so quickly if the baby is crying and will say things like “I’m just going to let her cry since nothing im doing helps” (cont)

Anyone else dread baby showers? I don’t want to go to my friends baby shower just because of the social aspect of it. Dreading the side conversations that I may have. I know it’s to focus in on my friends upcoming baby but I’d rather just do a 1:1 to catch up. What’s the best way to change your RSVP without lying and looking disrespectful?

I'm struggling with work and family and hoping other dads can empathize and maybe offer some coping tips that isn't booze. 😊

I'm WFH on a really unsatisfying project with nothing inspiring on the horizon. Wife is frazzled from looking after our demanding/destructive 2 year old and trying to furnish/fit out our new house.

I feel trapped in a loop of stressful home life with a toddler and wife shouting at me in the morning/night to boring work life during the day. 😑

Been in psych a year but feel like I am not getting the experience with the patients I thought I would have. Maybe it’s my hospital. I’m having my performance review tomorrow. Looked at my goals last year which was set before the pandemic really hit. Since it really affected business and travel I didn’t hit most of my goals. Anyone in the area a fan of going to outdoor breweries or bars during these times? Lost most of my social circle after a breakup a few months ago (they were her friends since I was always traveling and couldn’t meet others or join groups) and with covid it’s been difficult to find ways to meet new people and make friends so figure I’d try here. trying to find some people in the area to hang out with in smaller groups! 23 y/o M if that matters

Can someone explain using VA healthcare while having private insurance? I have a non service connected condition I need checked out but my private primary dr can’t see me for like 2 months.

What will I be responsible for costs? How does it work with my private insurance? My deductible which I haven’t hit yet? PwC has terrible super high deductible insurance if it matters. I’m also 90% service connected any priority group 1.

Any good car deals out there for families? These prices are insane. Currently have an Infiniti QX60 paying under $500/month on lease. We want something bigger. Dealer told me the qx80 is almost 1k/month. For real people with families who aren’t super loaded pay that for a darn car!?

How do you care less? I know this sounds like a strange question but I feel like I try too hard and I end up getting burned out or feel resentment. It also isn’t getting me anywhere lol. No one is asking me to go above and beyond and now I feel like I should just collect the check and do the minimum at this point. However, I struggle with doing that because I may just be one of those over achievers.

Anyone reading or listening to anything focused on personal growth/development?

What aspect of your life are you struggling with right now?

Question: I’ve been friends with this person for 7 years. I’m pretty controversial in my views and when it gets too wild she just tells me to STFU and I do. Well, tonight she was pissing me off and I told her to STFU for the first time ever and she didn’t. I just up on her on a group call with our other friend and they’re asking if I’m ok… I keep telling them nothing I say is going to be helpful so I just won’t. I want to cuss her out and tell her about herself (relevant to the argument). Help
