Generally no or not as much. It's not at all the end of the world though
I’m interviewing with BDO. Partners were honest and they made it clear they are mid market auditor, with some public engagements but not as many as big 4...compensation wise, looks they their salary is better than big 4...probably later on big 4 salary will be greater, but not everyone is targeting to make it
Not sure if I’m misinterpreting your “..”s, I was just trying to say that in my experience (as a BDOer), we don’t get paid as much as big 4, so if that’s important to someone they should take it into consideration.
RSM does perform services (in one form or another) for some of the Fortune 500 companies, however, the opportunity to work on one of those engagements is very limited when compared to the Big 4. Our focus/niche is the middle market and RSM has no intention on changing that anytime soon thus you should not come in with the expectation that you will be working on a F500 company as the opportunities are few and far in between. With that being said, our client base are still fairly large organizations ranging from say $10/$20 million to the billions in revenue each year. In a typical year, you will most likely be placed on 1 large engagement (clients with hundreds of millions to billions in revenue) then work on a bunch of smaller clients ($100ish million in revenue) throughout the year.
As for compensation, from what I have gathered, our salaries are fairly competitive with the Big 4 but the biggest difference is annual bonus where the big 4 definitely pays more. In terms of total pay, I don’t think the variance between us and the big 4 is that vast until you get the Sr. manager and Partner levels. Our Sr. Managers and Partners are definitely well compensated (we, for sure, have some partners making big $$$) but we cannot compete with the Big 4 when comparing average partner pay. Not even gonna try to sugar coat it, because it’d be a flat out lie.
One unsung benefit to not working with the F500 is the ability to invest in pretty much any stock that I want, whereas, the Big 4 would have to have far more restrictions
Not dumb, i went to a target and we never discussed non F500 and B4 and it is stupid. There is plenty of well paying work there too
Thank you!!!
Protiviti can be a crap shoot depending on the office. Work life balance can still be as bad as B4.
I worked at EY previously and at Protiviti I work on the same size and some of the same exact clients I did at EY.
You should clarify what type of advisory. TAS, VAS, strategy, etc
My friend works at protiviti and they work with big clients like Microsoft, amazon, T-Mobile and Uber. So yes.
Your friend must be working in the Seattle office lol
