I'm struggle as well for a long time with a job hunt.Seriously, I don't understand what is going on at the moment. I have 20+years of experience in retail sector and I am fluent in 4 languages.
I have worked at CVS for four years and never heard of being rejected in two days. CVS has a very lengthy hiring process with several people involved and a lot of online paperwork in what is called "workday". I would reach out and speak to someone in regards to the reason for rejection in (2 days?) Please don't give up CVS is a good stable company and is much larger than most people think. It took me two weeks before my in person interview. Then background check then training. You sound like a good person and want a job. Please reach out to CVS.
Yes times are changing. If you are not tailoring your resumes to the specific job posting you will most likely be thrown out. Companies have resorted to more efficient filtering of applicants by using an ATS resume system. An easy solution is to have your ai take your resume and ask it to make it optimized for (job posting link) and make it 2 pages max. Unless it’s a federal resume etc. This has been the most successful tip when it comes to the job search. Still got to practice for your interviews though. Send follow up emails/communication after your interviews. Thank them for their time.
Well said you're exactly right 👍
I am actually retired, but wishing to return to the job force on a part time basis. The previous retirement job I held, I ended up being the head hostess at a restaurant where I lived in Lake Havasu City at the time a few years back. I have an excellent resume and background that displays interaction with the public for many years. I continue to reach out to hostess or part time concierge type positions and just receive reject notices. I am upbeat, energetic and dependable which is more than most can say when it comes to the younger generation., My Dad raised me with an excellent work ethic. I just want a nice fun part time job doing what I do best, interacting with the public~~ The Hostess
I feel you. I've got 30 years exp. in retail and in the last 4 months had 2 interviews which led nowhere. The retail market is so saturated with people that employers have the convenience to pick and choose exactly who they want. Plus if you're over 35 your odds drop significantly. Age discrimination is real, people.
I agree 💯! I worked for a company for years and went back to apply for a position and I still was rejected. I got awards and everything while I was there. ( Originally I took a LOA)
Just a theory and someone else may a said it already. We are all getting screened by AI.
I have had customer service experience for over 20 years...32 if you count my first jobs when I was a kid.
can't get a bite. Just finally got a grocery store to FINALLY give me a chance. This is after 15 years in a medical lab, 2 years in a banking call center and random food service or grocery background. All because I am sure they did NOT use AI.
Just thinking and venting out loud.
I work in retail in the UK. When our store advertises sales assistant posts we receive about 100 applications per day. It's impossible for the manager to check them all manually. This maybe the reason why people with relevant experience may be missed.
I feel you on that. I was lucky enough that I had always have done authentic and well-written letters to my supervisors just before/after I left that institution... Old school" & proper, refined grammar can go a long way. Well written inquiries as follow ups. If you are using A.I. to write everything, make sure you read it over and agree before sending it out. Stand out as an actual human that knows how to effectively & authentically communicate with other human beings.
Best of luck!
There are a lot of issues in this job market and for those of us that have been applying online, we know how very frustrating it is. But, I have to constantly remind myself that if I can see a job post online then so can everyone else and there is nothing to stop ANYONE from applying for that same job. Therefore, it makes sense that open positions can get 100’s and maybe 1,000’s of applications. At those rates, it’s just a numbers game. The best way to find work has always been and continues to be through networking.
Next time you see the goverment pushing immigrants out, i suggest you celebrate. Welcome to Miami. This is what happens when you let the overpopulating and overbuilding take over. Now all these companies miss out on reaal hard workers rather thsn immigrants trying to scrap together any dime they can off of real Americans
Great job letting everyone know you're a racist without saying it! The fact that you blame immigrants who probably work twice as hard as you and not the companies that exploit them really shows your ignorance.
