I just lateraled and I’m 6 months pregnant. They shouldn’t make it difficult for you. Take your maternity leave and then go back to work!
I told them after the offer. I had 3 offers and all three of them accommodated a full paid mat leave. One just added a clawback period for my end of year bonus for 2026 (i had to stay with the firm until end of 2027, which i found fair).
I get the concern but especially if you’re early on they should understand. Don’t keep yourself from what sounds like a good opportunity!
Coming back here to let let you know I ultimately turned down the offer. I actually never had to disclose as the group as I found out that the group comes in more than the required minimum amount of in office days per week and it was expected that I would do the same. They really weren’t willing to negotiate any of their policies around flexible working and they consider 6pm as leaving the office early so a no go for me! My advice is to always meet associates from the group in person if you. I got so much information that I don’t think I would’ve received over a zoom or a phone call. People are surprisingly candid in person!!
Thank you for this update!!! I was literally just searching FB to see if you ever updated lol. Those in-office policies are gross! Good call.
Can you please give us an update if you accept the offer??
Ah good luck!
I told them after the offer and the firms were willing to accommodate the request
People who would be upset would have been upset even if you got pregnant immediately after your first day. If they have a need, they will most likely still have a need after you return from leave, and since you have the offer they figure its better to have you now than have somebody else or nobody for the foreseeable future.
