Balance bikes are amazing… we got a strider The pedals come separate but bolt on easily.
My 5 yo was riding comfortably in a week
+1
Eyes up, face forward, pedal pedal pedal.
Find a grass field with a SLIGHT decline and let them ride while you run long. Take the pedals off first and let them get used to running with the bike and balancing for a little bit. Then added the pedals when they feel comfortable. Good luck!
Agree with the grass field with a slight decline. Did exactly this with all 4 of mine. Didn’t remove the pedals but I could see the value.
The push bike (no training wheels, no pedals) worked great for my kids
Use a belt around the seat base and use that to support your kid to balance. My son learned in 10mins using this technique.
I took off the pedals and had him get used to it like a balance bike. Also used this Balance Buddy (Adjustable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MISWIW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
+1 on the balance bike idea, but the biggest thing that helped my child was going to a grass (really a turf) field and getting the hang of it there. Really only took 1-2 times and he was off to the races!
Agree with this. My older kids had a bike with training wheels. Younger ones just used a little bike without pedals. We used a baseball field down the street for them to get used to it.
A proper bike like a Strider, Woom, or Guardian will help since they are designed for kids and much lighter than a lot of bikes that are just shrunken adult bikes and this hard to ride.
With our 4yo we got her on with pedals and then wrapped a towel under her arms so she could get the sense of balance, starting and how to steer without risk of falls. Once she got the feel I'd let the towel go slack, then a few days of helping her start she was good to go.
