Today I saw a post celebrating “all the women who choose not to be mothers”, if it’s a physiological thing, I totally understand, but by choice?
Nah, we ain’t celebrating you for shit.
By that logic, why don’t you celebrate me during next years olympics? I’m not an Olympian, but that’s strictly by choice.

You lost me at the Olympians thing. Do people ask you every year how many gold medals you plan on having and then why you've waited so long to start having them?

likefunnyhelpful

Just to clarify: it's dumb to celebrate women who chose not to have a baby. But so was your Olympian thing.

I get what they’re saying but it’s in poor taste to co-opt a day meant to specifically appreciate mothers. It’s not a competition between moms and non-moms. It’s a day to show gratitude to the often thankless job of being a mom

@OP, if you're talking about someone's widely-commented-upon repost of a Mari Andrew illustration from 2018, then you are more-than-a-little hiding the ball. Her "brand" is essentially "be kind" & the illustration (copied below) was not "celebrating all the women who chose not to be mothers" but saying "Thinking of You" to, amongst other groups such as mothers who have lost children and children who have lost mothers and children and mothers who have strained relationships, women who have decided not to be mothers. Not to "celebrate" that, but to say, hey, I get this might be a hard day for you and I'm sending "you aren't alone" thoughts. Chill out with the over-sensationalism. It was meant to be nice. And I think the person who reposted was kind to do so given how many people out there are feeling alone right now. It's not wrong to acknowledge that the most wonderful holidays can be painful for some wonderful people. I say this as someone who had a lovely Mother's Day.

I still celebrate the women who chose not to be mothers, but were still very much so maternal figures in my life who helped me become the woman I am today. Being a mother doesn't start or end at reproduction.

What does this have to do with advertising? Did a brand post this message? If so which one?

Kinda a non issue, but I do think if Mother’s Day is about all women then that diminishes International’s Women’s Day.

But to all the moms/caregivers/single parents/guardians, thanks. Your kids might not appreciate it everyday, but you are their real superhero. Never forget that.

Just saw this tweet and I thought the same thing. Agree with the sentiment, but today's not the day to post that.

Good work on being a mother, and good on ya for not becoming one because societal pressures tell you too, both seem fair to me.

Agreed. If you don’t want to be a mother why would you want to be appreciated on mother’s day? Seems like something a company came up with to seem inclusive.

Hello Everyone,

I have been working with Kantar (a market research company) for 10 months now. The company has given me permanent work from home. Work is quite good and I am able to learn many things here. Also, my manager is very supportive and patient.
The only thing is about compensation, I have a package of 14 lpa with 6 YOE.
I'm thinking of switching to some company based in Pune.
What should I do?

I was recently promoted to a new position at my company. I'm so excited to be taking on this new challenge, but it's not going as well as I had hoped.

I've been given a lot of responsibilities, which is great. But I don't feel like any of them are being prioritized or delegated appropriately. I'm getting a lot of pressure from my manager, who is quite demanding and doesn't seem to understand that I need time to get things done and learn new skills.
