Transactional junior here. I want to remain having a semblance of a life outside work and partake in happy hours but always feel like it’s hard to do. What do you tell partners who send you back comments or want something from you when you’re out at happy hour? What do you say to to limit their expectations that you’ll be able to provide the document that night?

If you know for a fact that they are going to want it immediately it’s also okay to say “I am unavailable for the next two hours but I can take a look [later this evening/first thing in the morning]. “ and then turn on do not disturb and have that drink girl bc you deserve it after having the balls to set boundaries

like

“Okay to turn to this first thing tomorrow?” “Got it, when do you need this by?”
“Want to join me at this happy hour?”

likefunny

Will do shortly.

And then do it when you want. If it’s that urgent they will ping you again at which point you master the Irish exit.

like

Yep. "Will do."

Will circulate early tomorrow morning.

I need some advice. I have some co workers that are really disgruntled and complain about their jobs a lot to me. It really bring me down and makes it hard for me to work because I get constant messages about how much they hate it here. I’m friends with them outside of work so I don’t want to explode on them. What do you recommend I do/say to them? I want our friendship to last but I can’t stand how they talk right now. And honestly some of their bitching is valid but some isn’t imo.

Hi all, I’m currently a solution architect with 1yoe and two bachelors degrees. I also hold two cloud certifications and make 60k a year. This seems very low considering what I’ve seen for average SA salaries for those who hold the AWS SAA certification. Was hoping for some insight on this and if I should seek more compensation. Thanks!

He is nothing less than a con man & will promise you a lot to make you join the account. After that he will put you in testing projects. If you ask for a release, he will either not release you or release with a very bad rating and influence other project managers to not take you into their projects.

You will be left with no choice other than leaving TCS.

Additional Posts in Big Law

I recently lateraled into Big Law. Most of my colleagues are homegrown. My shift did involve a big change in practice area, and there's work that I haven't done before that I now have to do.

But, sometimes I feel stupid here, even for work which I have done previously. It's like I'm unable to understand instructions the first time around. And I have seen my colleagues getting annoyed by that. It's like I've become dumb. In my defence, I could say they're giving half assed instructions.
