I did the same. My experience has been better and a lot of job offerings explicitly ask for big4 experience. Definitely make the job! I reached out to people on LinkedIn and asked about the firm and environment. Get a contact to send your resume to
Thank you, this is super helpful.
Dont do it
OP what level are you? If staff or senior I recommend.
There will be more differences than you expect. In my experience it was worth the move for sure, but there were many little things that took some getting used to (and some positives I got used to right away!). In general though, the culture for some teams is more formal and teammates can get catty... also more abrasive personalities and higher-ups needing things on a silver platter (whereas at GT everyone knew what was going on and didn’t need silver platters). If you make the switch and dislike the culture of the team, switch to a different team - there are some good people.
Worth the switch though! Better/cooler clients, professional development, pretty much what you’d expect from a B4. The culture was the only thing I wasn’t prepared for, personally.
Thanks kpmg2. To be honest the silent thoughts were worse... I left that team and have gotten better reviews since. I think it’s probably a decent strategy to get out all the “dumb” questions through the first team and move on from there... once people think you’re “dumb” you can’t change their mind. Since then I’ve moved to teams where I’m valued and get top ratings. My first team has since turned over their team multiple times so I don’t think it’s me 😏

I don't think it should be a difficult transition, especially if it is a similar service line. Most of the new stuff will probably relate to the procedures of the specific firm. I'd probably reach out and try to network with the firms you're looking at, and just apply to positions.
