My recommendation would be informed by the stage of company you are targeting.
A company that needs seed funding will require different skill sets than a company in sustainment.
And public companies have different needs than private.
Without knowing anything else about what you are doing I would suggest picking something very different to what you’ve done.
Mentorship/training/people-management is one of the areas that I’ve focused on the most throughout my career, and I can attribute much of my success to this and relationship-building, as it results in being given opportunities due to mutual trust.
But in that vein… some experiences I’m lacking: corporate financial/tax/liquidity management, capital raises, investor relations, IT transformations (not interested), corporate law, seat deciding overall business strategy, direct external communications strategy, lab/pilot-scale R&D, product design/manufacturing
I recently took Wharton's Executive Presence and Influence program. You might want to take a look at it. It is filled with lots of examples of what executives at the CEO level should be aspiring too. I attended the program because I work with clients at that level. I try to keep myself as updated to what is going on in the world as possible. It was an excellent course. I highly recommend it. Some of the information has been invaluable to my clients. Good luck.
