Was out this week on vacation and just thought I'd peek at my inbox today to see what I'd be facing on Monday. Big mistake. Should not have looked! It's been awhile since I took an entire week off and so I didn't anticipate the email volume. Previous me would start cranking on those this weekend but you know what? It can wait until Monday. But I want to know - how many of you here are previous me?

Used to be that at one point now I’m like the moment work is done I shutdown and don’t think about it until the next work day.

Same, glad I'm finally learning haha

Live and learn! Don't even look! I've looked at things I wished I hadn't just because it was like muscle memory, I was opening my email before I consciously realized I was doing it. Anyway, you're doing the right thing by waiting, it'll all be there on Monday.

It really is muscle memory! Just like doom scrolling. We all need to learn to just stop and slow down.

I have a Q that I worry is going to make me sound like a jerk, but want some opinions. I do strength training 2x/wk with a trainer who was assigned to me at a gym where I bought a pack of sessions. I don’t really consider myself “his” client bc the relationship is managed by the gym… but lately he keeps saying like “I can’t wait to see what my clients give me for Christmas” and I find it super awkward. I pay $150 per session for these workouts (cont’d in comments)…

My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. We plan on having kids within the next year or two, and it’s highly u likely that she’ll be able to keep her current gig. We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

Outside of salary, what other things have people negotiated as new hire, I’ve seen more PTO, working from home, sign on bonus, even stock options? How have you negotiated these things especially if you are new to negotiating? Any books or references that gave you a great foundation. I’ve been on my job search from sometime now and getting more interviews, I’m willing to take a pay cut, but wonder what else I can ask for outside of more pay? Thanks

If you were in a private company assistant controller position being offered $10k more to switch over to public and much better PTO days and fully remote as opposed to an in office position that I’m currently at in a Real estate growing company. Would u do the switch back to public (left public just recently)?

Should I quit to my current manager(5th so far) or wait after mid year performance review, when a new boss will take over my team? I'm thinking on giving them 2 months notice period. Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.
