I am currently pursuing a position to be a 401k workplace planning consultant with Fidelity Investments. I would like to connect with someone who has gone through that training and early hiring process to make sure I have a solid understanding of the position. This is specifically for the Raleigh/Durham NC area if possible.

I don’t know anything about adding a parent as a dependent though your best bet with that is to call your private insurer. Beyond that I believe your only option is to buy insurance for her through your state Obamacare exchange.
Hey so you can get travel insurance for your mom on insubuy. That’s what I have used in the past for whenever my parents come and visit. I am not sure how much it is going to be for a longer duration though. Sometimes it’s cheaper to get the insurance from India itself, that’s what my in-laws did.
Also congratulations.
Parents are not a dependent…assuming she is retirement age your insurance would never cover as the expectation would be that she’s in Medicare. Obviously she can’t do that as she hasn’t paid into the system with a career here.
Especially if she’s on a visitor visa they can’t (and frankly shouldn’t) allow this because your mom coming to visit is not a “life event”.
Sure the baby is a life event but like you said her mom isn’t eligible to add to the policy to begin with so that doesn’t matter.
