I block my calendar on Monday mornings from 8-10 and try not to accept meetings during that time. I use the time to ease into my week. Sometimes it’s creating to do list for the week, cleaning out my emails or other work-related low hanging fruit. Other times, it’s a yoga class or run. Sometimes it’s laundry and catching up on life stuff after a busy weekend. Having this flexibility on Monday mornings makes me feel less anxious on Sundays.
My mom told me part of a rite of passage of being a career-driven working parent is enjoying going to work. Let me tell you, after like a week of having my kid home sick and trying to WFH, I was DELIGHTED to go into the office after dropping him at daycare.
Monday morning at the office. The first time I get to eat something since last Friday in silence. 💆🏻♀️
You are not the only one. We all need a break sometimes.
Definitely not the only one. I love my daughter to death, but one of the happiest moments every week is Monday morning, when if I have no morning meetings I can go back to bed for a solid hour after we drop her off at daycare.
If we ever mandate in office work on Mondays I may quit 🤣
