Westin vacation club- legit or no?

Do you mean Marriott Vacation Club?

I belong to Hilton Grand Vacation Club. While we have had many great vacations from being members, if I had to do it again, I likely would not have bought a timeshare. The properties we have stayed at have almost universally been fantastic. Full kitchens, more than one bathroom (which both help when vacationing as a family).

However locations are sometimes disappointing. For example, trying to find a place near a national park is almost impossible (except near the Smokeys in Tennessee, there are many exchange resorts there). The few that exist near national parks are always booked years in advance. You can find many places to book in Vegas or any location in Florida, but I don't want to keep vacationing in the same location. I like to change it up. Last year, I only had a few choices for our vacation in Maine. So we ended up driving a long distance to visit Acadia.

My annual maintenance fees are over $1,200 and there are fees everywhere (booking through RCI has a fee, choosing to hold off on a vacation for another year is another fee, moving Vacation club points to Hilton Hotels is another fee).

You cannot expect to book at the last minute. You need to plan your vacations at least 9 months in advance.

If you have a family, the ability to book a room with a kitchen and more than one bathroom could make the investment worth it. If you don't have a family, I would suggest you stick with your hotel points.

Honestly, you can get a much better value if you dont buy one, and just rent points whenever you want for maximum flexibility. There is always someone who can’t use theirs one year for one reason or another, and you can usually “rent” their points for the annual maintenance fee. This helps you avoid the insane upfront cost, and you can switch between any of the brands.

That being said, if you want to vacation at Disney every year, DVC is the only timeshare that could be worth it for you (*and that comes with a very heavy might).

Keeping in mind that europe is still easing out of covid restrictions, would like to head somewhere that’s going to be more open. TIA :).

Help!! My bestfriend is doing two months abroad and was trying to fly into turkey when they told her she couldn't because her passport expired within three months.

She went to the US Embassay in Athens knowing she had a month left of traveling, and gave her an emergency passport and punched holes in her exsisting one. Now no country will let her in with her emergency passport.

Can her mom get her a passport in the US and ship it to her? Is there anyway around this?

Thank you!!

Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I’ve been taking care of my extremely sick (literally on the verge of dying) dog. I work from home so it’s not too much of a nuisance but I feel distracted all day long and can hardly get anything done because I worry about my dog. I feel like I’d benefit from a day off or even half a day off but I’ve only been working for my firm for a month now, plus I have “discretionary time off.” Would it be okay for me to ask for a day off?
